The Sussex Is Doomed II
UPCDOWNC + Sky Valley Mistress + Believe In Nothing + SHEENA
The Garden of England's heaviest weekend returns for an autumn edition. Bigger, heavier, more riffs. Sludge, Stoner, Doom & more...
UPCDOWNC are anInstrumental/Metal/Sludge/Progressive Rock band from Medway, UK formed in 2000
They have played a live session from the Radio 1 ‘John Peel Studio’, have recorded at Abbey Road and on Xfm Radio as well as many other local radio stations across the UK.
Their sound can be described as diverse and has moved on from their Post Rock roots as they have added in some elements of Post Metal, Sludge and even Stoner Rock. The band have even released a Synth-Horror soundtrack and have had their music used for a Cinema Advertisement and had excerpts used in video games.
SKY VALLEY MISTRESS Returning with their first release since their debut album “Faithless Rituals” (that the pandemic proclaimed as a true compilation of songs for the deaf), Sky Valley Mistress have launched back into the sonic stratosphere with their brand new single, “Too Many Ghosts”.
Recording at the infamous Rancho de la Luna studios (QOTSA, Arctic Monkeys & Iggy Pop) was always destined to leave its cactus sharp mark on them as their latest cut sounds like it could also have been carved in the Californian Desert… …Or as the band explain, “This song is meant for the open highway. Somewhere you have the freedom to put your foot down and still feel like you’re cruising”.
Now the Hearse Rollin’, Flare Strollin’, Speaker ‘Splodin’ band recreate this in the flesh as the Dual Duel-Drumming Duo they now present themselves as, has to be seen to be believed. Stream-lined and stripped back from a four to a two piece, lead vocalist Kayley “Hell Kitten” Davies has now picked up the sticks and plays one half of a drum kit with former drummer MAX taking on the electric guitar whilst keeping one foot on the kick drum. No samples. No backing tracks. No click tracks.
No one is playing rock and roll the way that these two do.
With a new album recorded and ready to be released in 2025 on cult indie label New Heavy Sounds, just like an adrenaline shot in the hands of Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction, this band is ready to hit unsuspecting fans in the chest with a sound that will make them feel electrified, spiritualised and give them the overwhelming urge to stand in front of a mirror, grab their butt cheeks and exclaim, “ I AM ALIVE!”
BELIEVE IN NOTHING Believe In Nothing is an Eastbourne-based sludge/noise band founded in 2023. Consisting of Caine Hemmingway (vocals/noise), Lawrence Rodriguez (guitar), Steve Collier (guitar) and Jasper Lyons (drums), Believe In Nothing utilise layers of cacophonous and erratic noise, overlaid with gruesome harsh vocals to build up a bleak atmosphere of dread through both their on-record and live performances.
Despite only making their live debut in May 2024, the band have quickly made themselves known as a force to be reckoned with, having already supported the likes of Mizmor, Harrowed and Unyielding Love in their short timeline. With their debut single 'Boiling Stone' released via Bandcamp in June 2024, the band have signed to UK heavyweights Church Road Records for a string of 2025 releases that will cement them as the dissonant soundtrack to the bleak reality we exist in.
SHEENA Doom-punk duo since 2019 from Medway, Kent.
