THE SUSSEX IS DOOMED IV

Returning for a 4th edition, The Sussex is Doomed bring together the UK (and beyond)'s filthiest, noisiest, and heaviest doom, sludge and stoner bands.

The Grey

“Cambridge post-metallers The Grey make (largely instrumental) music that weighs down like few others - marrying the pummelling feel of a band like Neurosis or Karma To Burn to big themes with striking nuance and colour. It’s truly awesome.” -KERRANG

The Grey have shared stages across the UK and Europe with such heavyweights as Will Haven, Cage Fight, Pyschonaut, Palm Reader, Conjurer, POUND, Asunojokei, Glassing and Hundred-Year-Old Man.

Festival performances include Download, Bloodstock, Uprising & ArcTanGent.

"Amongst the UK’s most 'you-must-check-out' bands, today’s early set feels like The Grey taking matters into their own hands. Off the back of this year’s awesome new LP KODOK, the Cambridge post-metallers seem emboldened again, with a sound swollen to earthquaking proportions. Oh, and to underline the point, old mucker/Will Haven vocalist Grady Avenell is along for the ride, probably sampling his first pre-noon festival performance in an age. There’s a knowing hardcore already crammed against the front barrier, but seeing the uninitiated wandering in with their morning coffee only to be levelled by the wall of sound is the real pleasure. Proceedings might get cut a little short as it is the opening slot, but the epic CHVRCH remains one of the most powerful songs to emerge from these isles in recent years"

Okay You Win

Four-pieced heavy rock band Okay You Win (OKYW) was forged in London in 2023 and has built a solid reputation in the UK underground heavy rock scene, bringing a double hit of heavy riffs and soaring vocals. Drawing heavily on influences from the Seattle Grunge scene, Californian Desert Rock, 90s alt-rock and classic British heavy metal, OKYW mixes psychedelic stoner rock and doomy breakdowns with driving rock riffs.

The band released its debut EP ('Live From The Pit') in 2023 before embarking on a string of shows and festivals across England and further afield. The band has recorded its first full length album at The Nave in Leeds with producer Andy Hawkins, mastered by Alain Johannes, which is due for release in 2026.

Cruel Mother

Formed within the tolling of the Bow Bells in East London, doom metal band Cruel Mother take their lyrical inspiration from English printed broadsides and the folk song corpus, particularly the rich tradition of English murder ballads. The band mixes heavy riffs and crunchy grooves with the melancholic lament of the fiddle, creating a doom concept band unlike any other.

Matter

A heady and suffocating collision of doom, post-metal and sludge with growling bass, haunting dissonance and cathartic, harsh vocals
