THE SUSSEX IS DOOMED IV

Returning for a 4th edition, The Sussex is Doomed bring together the UK (and beyond)'s filthiest, noisiest, and heaviest doom, sludge and stoner bands.

Dunes are a stoner rock/alt-rock band based in Newcastle, UK signed to US based label Ripple Music. Known for marrying up hard hitting riffs with hook-laden melodies Dunes channel a handful of Northern grit through the fuzzed-out, cranked-up, trip-tinged sounds of the infamous generator parties of the 90’s desert rock scene and the beer-soaked, sweat-drenched, feedback engulfed clubs of the grunge era.

Forming in 2016 Dunes quickly made a name for themselves in their native Northeast before setting their sights further afield and have since earned a solid reputation for themselves on the UK stoner rock scene. This has seen them share the stage with the likes of Fatso Jetson, Nick Oliveri, Alain Johannes, Red Fang, High Desert Queen, Idles, Monster Magnet, Sasquatch, Truckfighters, Ritual King, Psychlona and many more. Dunes have performed at a plethora of festivals including Desertfest London, Bloodstock Open Air, Masters of the Riff, Ruination Festival, Tramlines, and Idlefest in the UK and overseas at Fuzz Festival Stockholm (SE), Fuzz Festival Malmö (SE) and Love For Loud Festival (NL) and Esbjerg Fuzztival (DK).

Okay You Win

Four-pieced heavy rock band Okay You Win (OKYW) was forged in London in 2023 and has built a solid reputation in the UK underground heavy rock scene, bringing a double hit of heavy riffs and soaring vocals. Drawing heavily on influences from the Seattle Grunge scene, Californian Desert Rock, 90s alt-rock and classic British heavy metal, OKYW mixes psychedelic stoner rock and doomy breakdowns with driving rock riffs.

The band released its debut EP ('Live From The Pit') in 2023 before embarking on a string of shows and festivals across England and further afield. The band has recorded its first full length album at The Nave in Leeds with producer Andy Hawkins, mastered by Alain Johannes, which is due for release in 2026.

Cruel Mother

Formed within the tolling of the Bow Bells in East London, doom metal band Cruel Mother take their lyrical inspiration from English printed broadsides and the folk song corpus, particularly the rich tradition of English murder ballads. The band mixes heavy riffs and crunchy grooves with the melancholic lament of the fiddle, creating a doom concept band unlike any other.

Matter

A heady and suffocating collision of doom, post-metal and sludge with growling bass, haunting dissonance and cathartic, harsh vocals

Line Up

DUNES were invented in the warmer periods of 2016 by several earth dwellers poorly masquerading as human beings in the city of Newcastle.

They play desert-riff-blues-tinted-disco-tinged-rock, which draws on influences such as Clutch, Torche and Queens Of The Stone Age.

They wasted no time getting amongst the live scene of their native Newcastle and further afield and have shared the stage with the likes of Idles, Monster Magnet, Red Fang, The Picturebooks, Mutation, Boy Azooga and many more.

DUNES recorded have released 2x 5-Track EP's which were recorded and produced by Graham Thompson who has previously worked with Frankie and the Heartstrings, Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaind, Kubicheck and Jinn.

DUNES Are set to release their debut album in 2019.
