Chelsea : 50th Anniversary Tour
Chelsea
Chelsea, formed in London in 1976 by Gene October, are one of the original punk bands to emerge from the UK scene and members also went on to form Generation X. Known for their raw energy and politically charged lyrics, they stood apart with a street-punk edge that influenced generations of bands. Their self-titled debut and singles like Right to Work became rallying cries during Britain’s socio-political unrest. Despite frequent lineup changes, October remained the constant driving force. Chelsea never achieved the commercial heights of peers like the Sex Pistols, but their longevity and uncompromising ethos earned them cult status. They remain a defiant voice in punk’s enduring legacy and they come to Tunbridge Wells this May to celebrate 50 years as a band.
