Arrested Development emerged in the early '90s as a beacon of conscious hip-hop, fusing intricate rhymes with soulful melodies and socially conscious lyrics. Fronted by Speech, the group's debut album "3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days in the Life Of..." captivated audiences with hits like "Tennessee" and "People Everyday," earning them critical acclaim and a Grammy. Their innovative blend of rap, funk, and gospel influences challenged the norms of the genre, advocating for unity and positivity. Though their commercial success waned, Arrested Development's impact endures, revered for their artistic integrity and enduring messages of hope and empowerment.

BIO

BEDROOM TAX are an eclectic 5-piece band fusing driving riffs & beats with catchy yet introspective lyricism. The group blend cultural & musical influences, offering listeners something fresh, and their poignant lyrics & subject matter cuts through the noise - drawing comparison to the likes of Jamie T, Hak Baker & The Streets.

2024 has seen BEDROOM TAX finesse their high-energy live performances, with sell-out shows at The Lexington in London, Gullivers in Manchester, and a festival slot at Loop Fest, Shrewsbury (backed by Chris Hawkins, BBC 6 Music). Maintaining their run of well received single releases, anti love-song ‘Hands on the Wheel’ dropped in February 2024 - a rap/indie infused anthem which was championed by Amy Lamé on BBC 6Music. Followup 'Breathe' achieved further radio play and a coveted 'Hot One' feature on Radio X.

After joining John Kennedy's 'The Remedy' showcase in May at Signature Brew Haggerston, the band released new single ‘Game Six’ on 17th July, expanding their palette with newer funk & disco feels. BEDROOM TAX next take to the stage on Friday 9th August with a hometown show supporting Arrested Development, before teaming up with label Scruff of the Neck at Colours, Hoxton on Friday 16th August.
