DEVIANT AMPS

Veteran UK Psychedelic/Psych/Space Rock band DEVIANT AMPS were formed in 1983. They have been flying the freak flag ever since. They have just released their eighth studio album THE CASTLE IN THE SKY on DAMP Recordings last May.

Essex based psychedelic/psych/space rockers DEVIANT AMPS are one of the UK’s festival scene’s best kept secret and always impress with their full on psychedlic and psych songs which are influenced by 60’s and 70’s psych and 70’s spacerock with nods to modern psychedelic and psych bands. DEVIANT AMPS started self releasing tapes in the early 80’s. Their first full CD, Deviancy Amplification Spiral was released in 2001. Since then they have released 8 studio albums and lots of live albums. Their previous album, Countdown To A Cosmic Ego Death was voted at number 2 album in 2021’s European Psychedelic charts and had many favourable reviews. Mainman and guitarist Paul Woodwright also runs UK psych and psychedelic festival KOZFEST. The last three albums the band have been joined by Seaweed (ex Ozric Tentacles) on synths and he will joining them for live gigs this year. Since covid the band have been busy playing gigs in the UK with many of the best psych and psychedelic bands in Europe and beyond. Playing with, among others, The Cosmic Dead, Acid Rooster, Helicon, Acid Mothers Temple, Gong, Here & Now, Ozric Tentacles, Da Captain Trips, Carlton Melton, Kungens Man and Electric Moon to name but a few. Last November the band played The 14th Psychedelic Network Festival in Wurzburg with The Bevis Frond. The band have also played at festivals such as Kozfest, Beautiful Days, Equinox Festival and venues such as Sheffield Arena and London’s O2 Forum as part of HRH Psych weekends.
