-- Anyone who has heard Johnโ€™s work with seminal Manchester band ๐—œ ๐—”๐—บ ๐—ž๐—น๐—ผ๐—ผ๐˜, will be cheered by the news of this impending release. Nominated for a Mercury Prize in 2010 for their acclaimed Sky At Night album, I Am Kloot never quite received the widespread success their music deserved. This new album is a masterclass in emotionally charged and melodically driven tunes for the adventurous. All 12 tracks were written by John except for โ€˜Nobody Left But Youโ€™ which he co-wrote with album producer Dave Fidler.

โ€œAfter both my Mum and Dad died, I started writing these songs to cheer myself up,โ€ John admits with typical candour. โ€œThe themes are taken from my dreams at the time. Wake up and take whatever impression I had from what I could remember of my dream and write that.โ€ Despite the sentiment, the songs are surprisingly uplifting. And will no doubt be exceptional live.

โ€œA splendid solo set of sumptuous vocal harmoniesโ€ -UNCUT

โ€œWonderfully grown up popโ€ -MOJO

โ€œA unique both literally and metaphoricallyโ€ -Lauren Laverne

โ€œMy favourite songwriter of all timeโ€ -Cate Blanchett

Line Up

As the singer-songwriter in I Am Kloot from 1999 to 2014, John Bramwell achieved a Mercury Prize nomination for 2010โ€™s The Sky At Night, a Top 10 chart position for 2013โ€™s Let It All In, numerous UK and European tours and a triumphant farewell at the Queen Elizabeth Hall with an orchestra in 2014.

Now, as a solo artist, heโ€™s travelling a very different path, his stunning new album The Light Fantastic is almost a complete U-turn from his Kloot-days. Darker clouds have been banished, there are now strings and four-part harmonies and a dozen gloriously exhilarating, beautifully crafted observed songs about life, humanity, the universe and everything else.
