Line Up

Suncharmer are a vibrant, guitar-based indie/rock quartet from Kent, consisting of Paul Crisp, Billy Birjukov, Josh Brice, Jasper Morris.

Suncharmer formed on a lonely Valentine’s Day in 2016, and have since been constructing a fresh, dynamic blend of mellifluous noise.

All four members work to create high-energy, driving indie sounds with colourful melodies and psychedelia-infused poetry that draws influence from Jimi Hendrix, T.Rex, David Bowie and Arctic Monkeys. Suncharmer's array of influences combine explosive riffs with gloriously shimmering surf-like guitar and an adrenaline-fuelled atmosphere.

Facebook

Gothic Americana wrapped in English fog. Songs of love and loss accompanied by banjo, trumpet, omnichord, musical saw, soaring keyboards and distorted guitars.

Night Without Sleep are amazed they are still alive. They have fully embraced this lease of life in becoming an acoustic duo comprised of Mad Dogs – Wolff Williams (vocals/guitar) and Jim (Funboy) Loosley (guitar/vocals). Trying hard not to let themselves fall into any one genre of music, they are renowned for their dramatic live shows with their close to the mark lyrics and the ability to get under the skin of the listener, marking them out as true artistic performers. Sitting comfortably away from the safety of uplifting pop they offer songs that are interesting, edgy, full of emotion and very different to anything else you will see. They are currently in the studio recording a couple of EPs which is about time.

Alex Metcalfe's Catastrophic Organ Failure

A dynsfunctional conglomeration of idiots, savants and undesirables. Thrown together by a shared love of toffee (vodka), and a strong and persistent desire to be really rather loud. Generally with wide ranging influences such as J.J. Cale, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many many Mississippi blues geniuses. Often to be found fronted by Tom Meyritz holding a guitar and microphone, with Pete Lee to his right with a bass, Simon Tuohy to his left with a guitar and Dave "The Baker" Seaver behind providing the driving force on drums. This motley crew are often saved by the calming, although slightly mad, influence of Victoria Meyritz, singing her way through life like a sherpa of melody. A Riff Raff can generally be found in and around Tunbridge Wells, playing music and/or drinking. If a Riff Raff is spotted, it is generally advised to retreat quietly and watch from the bushes.

Tunbridge Wells Ukulele Night Thing is a fortnightly Monday night open Ukulele Jam for anyone with a Uke and also the home of TWUNT the Band. We meet at the Cross Keys Pub, in Tunbridge Wells and have a right laugh playing away those Monday blues!

TWUNT the BAND

“The most sublimely orchestrated group of musicians working in the UK today”, “The very definition of cutting edge”, “An avant-garde fusion of experimental dub step and Tuvan throat singing”, are all things that have never been said about Tunbridge Wells Ukulele Night Thing (TWUNT), and never will.

However, what you can say about TWUNT is that it offers a pack of stupidly enthusiastic ukulele players with a wry sense of humour and the silliest set list this side of Jive Bunny’s mega mix.

TWUNT is a twenty to thirty strong group of players from in and around Tunbridge Wells who pack in to the High Brooms Tavern on a fortnightly basis to have a drink and a good old sing-along – playing songs from a truly eclectic range of artists from Lady Gaga to Alice Cooper, stopping off somewhere in the middle for a bit of Johnny Cash. The youngest player is yet to hit their teens and the most senior member is in his 70s, and should be old enough to know better by now. Some of the group are experienced musicians whilst for others learning ukulele has opened up a whole new world of fun… which is what it’s all about.

The TWUNT band has grown out of the regular jam nights and is formed of only the most obsessive and fanatical group members. Their inaugural gig was in 2011 at Eastbourne’s “Magnificent Motor” festival. To the band?s astonishment, during the set more people came to listen than got up and left…so they decided to do it all over again. Since this the group has developed and established itself as a favourite at local festivals and charity fundraisers, with appearances at the fabulously named “Poofest” and the prestigious Rusthall village fete where the group not only managed to play without drowning in torrential rain but also stormed to victory in the Tug-of-war in a battle which will surely resound through the ages.
