We are celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2018 and as well as all of the established touring acts we are bringing in to the venue throughout the year, we wanted to also focus our energy on setting up opportunities for new bands and musicians to play the venue that play original music.

Line Up

Ashley Evans is a singer-songwriter from Tunbridge Wells. He writes songs about events in everyday life which haunt, inspire and obsess him. With a talent for combining soulful themes with well-crafted melodies, his powerful vocals create memorable, emotive tunes.

His love for music started at an early age when he wore out his dad's original 'Sergeant Pepper's' LP. He attributes his distinctive melodic sound and thought provoking lyrics to a teenage bedroom immersed in the sounds of the biggest and best guitar bands of the 60's and of a well established love for Oasis, Stereophonics and Blur. More recent inspiration has sprung from listening to Doves, Ryan Adams and Ed Harcourt.

All of these musical signposts merge to form the backdrop for Ashley's music coupled with a fascination with love, mortality, people-watching and on occasion inspiration from Jack Daniels."

The Manatees are an Indie-pop band originally from Southampton. The band are Jay Harris (vocals/rhythm guitar), Tyler Bloor (lead guitar, backing vocals), James Miller (bass guitar, backing vocals) and James Brearley (drums, backing vocals). On his first day at a new secondary school Jay Harris was quickly introduced to future drummer of The Manatees James Brearley. Having heard the new kid could play the guitar and before introducing himself properly Brearley was quick to ask Jay to play lead guitar in his school band. Since then James and Jay have been playing together in a number of groups but after meeting Tyler Bloor and James Miller decided to put their efforts into one project, The Manatees.
