REVIEW FROM BLAM MAGAZINE: 'Enter CYRANO, and despite the respectably sized crowd, the quality gap compared to certain Stable acts that draw bigger ones, yawns open like a bottomless chasm.

With minimal fuss, Cyrano just get on with it as 'Gathering the Dust" takes over and makes them sound heartbreakingly huge. Imagine Thirteen Senses writing with Embrace while Clearlake look on, crying into their beer. When Joe Ackerley's vocals aren't doing the high wire act, he roars with a fractured anguished dignity, somewhere between Thom Yorke and Chris Martin, but there's no girly piano in Cyrano's set up. Their mood develops from chiming guitars that in the space of a few drawn out chords can make you drop to your knees and be thankful that the world is so goddamn beautiful; soaring, swooping melodies, teetering on the brink between joyful abandonment and despair, pour from their amps, crash and ebb around your brain and trickle down your spine like cold sweat.

The newer material, such as "Signs" and "Discontinued" echo the Coldplay and Pearl Jam comparisons made frequently with this band, but intrinsically, they only share the same sense of power and ethereal sensuality, as the ideas are theirs alone. There's absolutely no filler with this band. Each song is a perfectly crafted, impossibly sexy work of art in itself, honed and perfected over time. Their tunes build, grow, expand and explore, going exactly where you want them to and leaving you breathless with anticipation for the next one. "Surely", you say to yourself, "It can't get much better than this." Then it does.

Quite simply, Cyrano are just stunning.'

Fresh yet Retro! ...Musical ‘Mixologists’ The Violet Jive offer up a voluptuous tiki style cocktail of sounds, blending styles and eras into one colourfully intoxicating hit ...Late night Swing/Jazz, Rock 'n' Roll, otherwordly Latin Exotica, earthy Funk/Soul & Alternative/Blues. With both hot originals albums and cool covers sets, theirs is a sound that led them to support Gregory Porter at Rye International Jazz Festival in 2015.

The dynamic trio features singer/guitarist Steve Spall's lush vocals and 'Spy-esque' swing guitar prowess alongside Paulo Beeching -Double Bass and Matt Wilson -Drums ...often featuring additional musicians/guests including Sax, Trumpet, Latin Percussionist. Two originals albums: 'Far Flung' & 'Rhythm Mythology', plus other singles including a lush version of Bjorks 'Venus as a Boy' are available on iTunes.

“These musicians have mastered the art of the irresistible toe-tap and their songs transport you to somewhere hot and wanton within the first few bars. The Violet Jive are achingly cool and wherever they are going they’re doing it in style ….” SO Tunbridge Wells Magazine

Wake Up Leo is the brainchild of songwriter Leo Ulph supported by his band.

The tracks come with big choruses and satire on modern life and love, almost as if The Cure had joined Arcade Fire and then had a love child with The Killers.

The music is written as a commentary of modern life. (there's quite a lot going on to sing about these days) and the shows offer something quite a bit different; including film samples between songs and interaction. It's all accessible, but it's very definitely designed to make you think.

Recent gigs have included supporting Indie legends 'Space' at the Tunbridge Wells Forum. I have also performed at Livestock Festival in Gloucestershire with 'Reverent and The Makers' and The Frattellis and headline supported REEF on the Friday night.
